Around here...

Another batch of flowers has been entrusted to me, everyone cross your fingers. I always plant with great hopes, and those plants usually bite the dust in a matter of weeks. So, I'm hoping and praying that these ones make it!

One of my wishes came true this weekend, I finally have a Lilac bush! It's still a baby, but I am so excited! Thanks to Steven for the surprise and also for planting it!

(I think this pictures is pretty self-explanatory)

This was Steven's take on holding Cooper through the Shock game. Covered ears, so cute.

Yesterday were Cooper's first shots. How does anybody do that? It was so sad, but he's handling the after-effects pretty well. At his appointment we did learn that he's gained a pound and grown 3 inches. So, he is definitely his Daddy's boy, long and lean.

Not much keeps Cooper's spirits down, even his shots.

Is he the cutest thing ever?!

The Sickling...

Our little Candy is sick guys. The poor girl has 28 days left before Annie comes and she's suffereing through a really bad chest cold/cough sort of problem. She can't really take anything to help so she's just suffering through, and she's really having a tough time.
Keep her in your prayers!
P.S. Go Shock!
(This is only okay becauseI know Candy would whole heartedly support the outburst...)

Dreams

I've been thinking about dreams lately. I found this book at Costco, and thought that Steven would really enjoy it. I was not aware at the time that it had been on Oprah, I just thought that the premise was very interesting. The man who wrote the book was a professor who found out that he had cancer, and he just had a few months left to live. At his University the tradition for Professor's leaving campus was for them to give a "Last Lecture". This professor's situation was a little different because it was in fact the Last Lecture of his life.

The book is amazing.

There are so may aspects to the book that I found inspiring. The author talks about how when he finally accepted that he was dying, he realized that aside from having to leave his family, he had no regrets about his life. When he was a child he wrote down all his dreams and aspirations, and he did the best he could to achieve them as an adult. The book has so many wonderful stories and lessons, and I highly recommend it to anyone.

I've been doing some thinking since I started reading and I realized that I really cannot remember what my dreams were as a child. I wanted to start a new list to start achieving, so that if anything happens to me, I won't have any regrets.

  1. Play a string instrument
  2. Run a 5k
  3. Live outside the United States
  4. Go on a mission
  5. Have a happy, safe, and supportive home for my family

Trying to realize what my goals and dreams are is very difficult and insightful.

What are some of yours?

And you thought we weren't dedicated to our new goals....

Only my husband would put all these colors on the at the same time. Simply awesome.

Mothers Day Gifts

Happy Mothers Day!
Today was an amazing day for me, it was my first Mother's Day! I had a wonderful day, and I received so many gifts that I wanted to say thank you for, so here goes!
Thank you to Candy who sang the National Anthem at the Shock game. It was so fun to hear the anthem without frills or question marks...you did amazing and I was so proud of you I cried! (For some reason I also cried when the team ran out...I'm such a loser. Go Shock!)

Thank you to Tori for teaching me how Javier's eat hot dogs. Like Bananas!

Thank you to Sammy who taught me that sidewalk chalk is mildly edible, and an accessory!

Thank you to Tori who showed me that boogers and Dorito dust make a paste that your hair can stick in. Good to know just in case I ever have to make a pair of paste pants. (Anyone?!)

Thank you to my husband for making my biggest dream come true, and for being the most wonderful and loving father.

And last but not least, thank you to Cooper who did this on Steve instead of me.

Happy Mother's Day!

A Change of Pace

Okay People. The blissful, delirious "I'm only gaining weight because I'm pregnant" stage has sadly ended. (Or ended, sadly) Both apply. The end of my rope has been reached, the camel's back is broken and I'm getting splinters from the bottom of my patience barrel. We're making changes around here!

We've started working out again, and we are both really excited about it. Upon some discussion between the two of us we discovered that neither of us had seriously worked out since we got married. Gross, I know. So, we've set some new goals, including weigh-ins and measuring (did anyone other then me just barf a little into their mouth..) We started two weeks ago, which means that this week is a weigh in.

What lurks under the bed...

The Scale!
We weighed in two weeks ago, and after the weigh in, Steven hid the scale under our bed with this note taped to it. Clearly he remembered that when we got married I threw his scale away saying I never wanted one in our house be cause I get too obsessed about it. What a great husband.

Just for anyone out there who now thinks I'll be a work out buddy or fun to run with (I'm talking to you Randi...) don't expect much. It takes me a while to work up to those running goals. But, I'd be happy to challenge anyone to the elliptical!

Wish us luck! (A Lot O' luck!)

After reading a friends blog about numbers in our lives, I find myself a bit obsessed with making number patterns, so here it is...

1.Birthday Boy, and subsequent party.
Steven's birthday was on Friday, and we had such an awesome day. We were lucky enough to get to care for Liz after her wisdom teeth were removed this week. (Out of respect for her, no pictures are currently available) So, the morning of his birthday we went to Lizzie's post-op appointment, and then on to Old European! We had so much fun, and were so excited to be there. By far the highlight of the day was our surprise game night at Staci and Dan's. We played Rock Band, Bomberman, and Scene It. I'm always amazed at how much fun I have whenever we get together to play games. (Just so it's mentioned Tyler did win most everything but I won when we played Scene it! Eat it Tyler...) Here are a few of the rockers...

2. Shock bbq's. When is that danged team going to play at home? We had a great time with the Javiers and Liz last night watching the game online, through the tv. I have to say that I look forward to the parties more because of the kids. We had so much fun. About halfway through the game I discovered this outside...

What a great uncle...

3. Number of different formulas tried to make the spit-up stop.

We've landed on this latest one. It's supposed to be super thick so he doesn't spit it up, however it doesn't come out of the bottle very well. Argh!

4. Number of wisdom teeth Liz had removed...

Love you Liz!

5. Number of fingers Cooper tries to suck on...here he actually found the right one.

(Skipping forward to)
8. Number of hours Cooper sleeps in a row at night! Yay!
