Hungry Fella?

We were lucky enough to have the Javier children staying with us for a few days last week. One of the days I made lunch while all the children were watching a movie. I stepped into the other room to take a phone call, and came back to this. Cooper had moved from stool to stool and eaten at least a little of each sandwich. He was happy to show me the progress he made...although I have to say that it seemed the other kids were less excited.

I Do Love A Puzzle...

The other day I introduced this puzzle to Cooper. He loved it, and I was so happy. I love puzzles. They are totally addicting to me, and I have spent many a night up doing puzzles instead of sleeping.
As I watched him I realized, Cooper himself is a huge puzzle. Before I actually became a parent I thought that every parent knew what "type" of child they had. Quiet or loud, good or bad...but I was totally wrong. Each kid is a huge puzzle. Some days Coop is quiet and peaceful, snuggly and loving. And some days he's aggressive and physical, crying and disobedient. And some days he's all of them wrapped into one. I've finally learned to take each emotion at a time, and not try to put him in a box.
We are all puzzles, but I swear this guys has missing pieces!

The Man Wears Many Hats...

So, Cooper loves to put stuff on his head, and occasionally he can't get them off. The other night when we were headed to be we checked on him in his. We found him like this.

He chose to wear Abby's Easter Egg gathering basket. I love it.

The Egg Crack...

Some Easter Stuff (A Tad Bit Late)

I realize these pictures are way overdue, but here they are nonetheless! Also, somehow I managed to take a lot of pictures on Easter, so this is just part one.
We had a wonderful Easter morning. We did baskets for the kids, and they seemed...not very interested. It was hilarious to see. We had set the dining room up with baskets and grass, but Cooper ran right out of the room. We were so excited to hear conference, we kept our family tradition and went to the church to hear the morning Sunday session. We were a little disconcerted to find that the session was only being broadcast in the Relief Society room. So, we ended up back at home.

The boys got a little restless during conference, so snacks were introduced. That evening as Steven and I went to bed, we found many a pretzel in our covers.

After conference we headed out to the lake for an Easter Egg hunt and the Egg Crack. (Pictures for another post.) It was perfect weather, and the perfect location for an egg hunt. Cooper actually got into the spirit of the hunt this year, but Abby didn't have a lot of interest.

This girl is such a goof. This was the most normal picture I got out of about 20. She loves to make faces!

Happy Easter!

Eternal Easter Egg Hunts

I love General Conference. Today, miraculously, both the kids were incredibly peaceful, and I was able to listen to both sessions virtually uninterrupted. I sat listening to the messages of family and hope, and I couldn't help but feel so grateful for the family that I was born into, and also for the family I married into. Little did I know that while I was humming along and thinking of my in-law family, they were all gathered together having the Easter Egg Hunt which we were supposed to be attending, but my pregnant brain told me was tomorrow. When I found out that we had missed the event, I was more devastated then I thought I would be. As much as I would have enjoyed raiding the eggs after, I was so sad to realize that we had missed the opportunity to be with our family. Trying to reconcile these feelings withing myself, I was brought back to the feelings I had from conference. I feel so lucky that we our all an eternal family. I'm so glad that through eternity we won't miss our egg hunts. What an amazing gift that we all get to be together forever!

I don't think I've posted these before. When my screensaver comes on, they often flash across, and I always think I should post them. What better day then today when I can't think about any of our family without crying huge tears. I love you all and I'm so grateful for the gospel!
